Hello every one. After watching a few King of the Mountain races with my kids I decided to make my own track following some of the tips of this forum.
I bought a 2x1,5 m sheet of 3,5 mm corrugated plastic (Or polipropileno alveolar as it is called in Spain). 3,5 mm is a bit flexible, but the next width is 5 mm, which is too rigid. I got it cut in 20 slices 1,5 meters long each. All for 16€.
I made the borders with a cutter as in the video. To connect the different tracks I used electric wire. The good thing is that you can find any diamater so at least one will fit perfectly in the corrugated plastic holes. Wire is rigid enough to make a sturdy connection, but flexible as well to correct any missalignement.
I painted the traffic lines using an airbrush.
This is the finish line (1,5 meters long track):
The hardest part is the U turn. I made a single U pice with the turn (without any bank). I used again the corrugated plastic for the outer and inner walls with hot glue gun.
As I had no bank I needed the cars to enter from the outer lane, so I added a little help displacing the inner wall.
With this solution all cars made it through the turn, but it is true that during crowded races, some cars got stucked.
